Sōji Enoshiro ha quindici anni ed è uno streamer controverso che pubblica contenuti sotto lo pseudonimo di "Aoringo". Trasmette intenzionalmente contenuti violenti, clickbait e provocatori per ottenere reazioni e guadagnare soldi, ma tutto questo è causato dal suo bisogno di sostenere le spese mediche della sorella minore. Nella vita reale Sōji è un normale studente che ama mangiare il budino che farebbe di tutto per la propria sorellina. Un giorno, mentre è online, finisce per essere attaccato da un fantasma che si era legato alla rete e questo causa nel ragazzo un trauma che lo porta ad un risveglio spirituale. A causa di ciò finisce per essere reclutato dalla Miden Academy, una scuola specializzata nella formazione degli esorcisti che affrontano gli spiriti che vagano nel regno digitale.
