Sono passati due anni da quando M3GAN, un prodigio dell’intelligenza artificiale, si è ribellata scatenando una serie di omicidi ed è stata distrutta. Nel frattempo, la sua creatrice, Gemma, è diventata un’autrice di successo e una figura di spicco nella battaglia per la regolamentazione dell’intelligenza artificiale, mentre sua nipote Cady, ormai quattordicenne, disobbedisce sempre di più alle rigide regole di Gemma. Quello che entrambe ignorano è che la tecnologia di M3GAN è stata rubata e sfruttata da una potente azienda della difesa per creare Amelia, un’arma d’infiltrazione letale e intelligente.
