Secoli nel futuro, le riserve mondiali di acqua dolce si stanno esaurendo. Le guerre vengono condotte per l'acqua e la Cina governa l'Europa, inclusa l'Unione scandinava. Nel lontano nord, una giovane donna, Noria, sta imparando a diventare una maestra del tè, come suo padre. Solo i maestri del tè conoscono l'ubicazione delle fonti d'acqua nascoste, inclusa la sorgente naturale che il padre di Noria coltiva, che un tempo forniva acqua a tutto il suo villaggio. Dopo la morte di suo padre, i militari si trasferiscono per sorvegliare il villaggio e Noria. Il film racconta l'incredibile storia di come uno dei videogiochi più popolari di sempre sia arrivato a contagiare i giocatori più accaniti di tutto il mondo. Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton) scopre Tetris nel 1988 e decide di puntare tutto sul videogioco viaggiando in Unione Sovietica, dove unisce le forze con il suo inventore Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Efremov) per riuscire a portarlo all'attenzione delle masse.
