TRAMA
La trama si incentra su un episodio di cronaca nera avvenuta il 7 novembre 1980: la sparizione, nella profonda provincia dell'Arkansas, di due bambini, fratello e sorella, usciti in bicicletta e mai tornati a casa. Il caso viene affidato ai detective della Polizia di Stato Wayne Hays e Roland West. Il narratore è il det. Hays, che racconta i fatti da due distinte finestre temporali: la prima nel 1990, quando viene interrogato sulla vicenda dai suoi ex colleghi..
