Welcome to Hong Kong, a vibrant neon city teaming with life, whose exotic locations and busy streets hide one of the most powerful and dangerous criminal organizations in the world: the Triads.

In this open world game, you play the role of Wei Shen, an undercover cop trying to take down the Triads from the inside out. You'll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organization, taking part in brutal criminal activities without blowing your cover. Torn between your loyalty to the badge and a criminal code of honor, you will risk everything as the lines between truth, loyalty and justice become permanently blurred.

Ambientato in una Hong Kong oscura e dominata dal crimine, Sleeping Dogs ci mette nei panni di Wei Shen, un poliziotto sotto copertura che ha il compito di infiltrarsi all'interno delle triadi, le organizzazioni più pericolose al mondo.

Il personaggio si trova quindi a portare a termine diverse missioni per i suoi "boss", riscuotendo tangenti e mettendo a tacere determinate persone, il tutto cercando di non farsi beccare dalla polizia e di restare vivo.

La struttura sandbox di Sleeping Dogs ci consente di esplorare la città liberamente e accedere alle missioni che preferiamo, mettendoci alla guida di moto, auto e persino motoscafi per raggiungere la nostra meta.

Il sistema di combattimento implementato dagli sviluppatori di United Front Games unisce azione e strategia, consentendoci di effettuare spettacolari contromosse e di sfruttare gli oggetti dello scenario per mettere fuori gioco gli avversari. [/spoiler+]
