Spesso però ripensa al precedente impiego e alle avventure vissute, così un giorno decide di far visita al vecchio museo. Lì scopre che tutte le statue stanno per essere spostate nell'archivio federale e sostituite con degli ologrammi, a eccezione dello scheletro T-Rex, la statua di Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), il faraone Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek) e alcuni dei personaggi più noti. La sera successiva Larry riceve una telefonata del piccolo cowboy Jedediah (Owen Wilson): la scimmia cappuccina Dexter ha portato con sé la tavoletta egiziana e ora il museo più grande del mondo ha preso vita. Come se non bastasse, tutte le statue sono tenute ostaggio da Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria), il malvagio fratello maggiore di Ahkmenrah. Larry decide d'intervenire ancora una volta, per impedire che l'intero museo cada in rovina.
