TRAMA
Alaska, 17 dicembre. Inizia la notte polare. Un cacciatore punta la sua preda fra una mandria di caribù: improvvisamente, il capobranco sembra dare un ordine e tutti gli animali si gettano da un dirupo. Nella vicina stazione di ricerca artica Tsalal, otto scienziati sono impegnati nelle loro routine quotidiane quando improvvisamente uno di essi, Raymond Clark, apparentemente colpito da attacco epilettico, dice: «Lei è sveglia». Subito dopo un blackout colpisce la stazione.
