Trama:
W.E. racconta le storie parallele di due donne fragili ma determinate, Wally Winthrop e Wallis Simpson, separate da un arco temporale di circa sessant'anni. Wally Winthrop, giornalista di New York, rinunciato al proprio lavoro di giornalista per sposare uno psichiatra di successo. Il suo rapporto è infelice e la donna è ossessionata dalla vicenda di Wallis Simpson: per lei, nel 1936, re Edoardo VIII rinunciò alla corona inglese in favore del fratello Bertie. Ma la ricerca di Wally, rivela che la vita della coppia non era perfetta come pensava.
