Nella Miami del 1991, Dexter è alle prese con il suo passaggio da studente a serial killer vendicatore. Quando i suoi impulsi sanguinari non possono più essere ignorati, Dexter deve imparare a canalizzare la sua oscurità interiore. Con la guida del padre Harry adotta un codice che lo aiuta a trovare e uccidere le persone che meritano di essere eliminate dalla società senza entrare nel radar delle forze dell’ordine. Una sfida particolare per il giovane Dexter, che inizia uno stage di medicina legale presso il Dipartimento di Polizia di Miami.
