Trama:
Andrew Beckett, giovane avvocato, è stato licenziato dallo studio legale presso cui lavora. I suoi colleghi sostengono che non era competente; Andrew afferma di essere stato licenziato perché malato di AIDS. Deciso a difendere la propria reputazione, Andrew assume Joe Miller, un avvocato, perché lo rappresenti nella causa per licenziamento illecito. I due sono divisi da differenze sociali e culturali e Joe è riluttante ad accettare il caso. E non è l'unico: nove legali hanno rifiutato di rappresentare Andrew che è impegnato a difendere la sua reputazione e la sua vita. Joe deve affrontare un genere di lotta diverso, confrontandosi con le proprie paure e i propri pregiudizi sull'omosessualità.
