Samurai Jack è un cartone animato statunitense creato da Genndy Tartakovsky e trasmesso da Cartoon Network dal 2001 al 2004. Il 2 dicembre 2015, venne annunciata una quinta stagione trasmessa dall'11 marzo al 20 maggio 2017 su Cartoon Network nel blocco di Adult Swim, dedicato ai programmi per un pubblico adulto.

Trama
La storia narra di un samurai senza nome, in possesso di una spada benedetta in grado di dissipare il male. Un giorno sulla sua terra arriva Aku, un demone nero, figlio del Male Puro. Aku è malvagio, possiede potenti poteri magici e porta corruzione, morte e distruzione sulla terra. Il samurai, che possiede l'unica arma in grado di distruggere il potentissimo essere, si fa avanti per annientarlo e così il mostro, impotente contro la spada, poco prima di essere distrutto, spinge il guerriero in un vortice spazio-temporale che lo invia nel futuro, in un mondo ridotto a una distopia, abitata da creature stravaganti: robot, mutanti, alieni. In questo grottesco mondo futuristico Aku è ancora più potente e domina su ogni angolo del pianeta, imponendo a tutti la sua crudeltà. Nel corso dei diversi episodi della serie Samurai Jack vaga per la terra cercando di sfuggire ai cacciatori di taglie e di trovare un varco temporale che lo riporti al momento in cui Aku era meno potente e stava per essere sconfitto. Nel frattempo aiuta gli innocenti minacciati da Aku, sacrificando a volte addirittura l'opportunità di raggiungere il suo obiettivo.
