WRC: FIA World Rally Championship 4 è un racing game ad impianto simulativo incentrato sulle sfide rally, comprensivo di licenze ufficiali per quanto riguarda piloti, scuderie, auto e tracciati, evoluto ulteriormente rispetto all'ultimo capitolo uscito grazie ad un motore grafico SpikEngine rinnovato e un nuovo modello di guida. Tra le novità maggiori si rilevano, in particolare, nuove condizioni climatiche variabili e illuminazione dinamica, mentre dal punto di vista del gameplay la modalità Carriera è stata ulteriormente ampliata e approfondita.
