Un tempo, il mondo era minacciato da una creatura malvagia conosciuta come il "Drago Maligno". Tuttavia, un eroe riuscì a sconfiggere il drago, salvando così il mondo. Sono passati più di 200 anni da quell'evento. Nella città labirinto di Maartat vive un uomo chiamato Laust, conosciuto da tutti come "l'inutile". Laust è un guaritore, ma a causa della sua presunta mancanza di capacità, viene disprezzato, sfruttato e infine abbandonato dagli altri avventurieri. Questo ciclo di abbandono e rifiuto si ripete continuamente nella sua vita. Un giorno, davanti a Laust appare una ragazza di nome Narcena, una guerriera esperta nelle arti marziali.
