Dato che nel party dell'eroe mancava una persona in grado di ricoprire il ruolo, Orun, che sa adattarsi facilmente, è passato da spadaccino a stregone. Un giorno però viene cacciato, in quanto non ritenuto abbastanza capace dagli altri membri. Egli ha effettivamente delle abilità fisiche e magiche nella norma, per nulla straordinarie. Ma il suo punto di forza è saper apprendere velocemente abilità che chiunque altro riuscirebbe ad acquisire solo dopo anni di fatiche. Dopo essere stato espulso, decide di ripartire all'avventura e tornare ad essere uno spadaccino. Le competenze, l'esperienza e gli svariati incantesimi acquisiti durante la sua permanenza all'interno del party dell'eroe risulteranno utili per la sua nuova vita.

Mizuki Ashiya è una ragazza nippo-americana che vive negli Stati Uniti; un giorno, però, decide di tornare in Giappone per incontrare il suo grande idolo di sempre Izumi Sano, giovane promessa dell'atletica nel salto in alto. Così, dopo essersi tagliata i capelli per fingersi un ragazzo, Mizuki arriva in Giappone e si iscrive nello stesso liceo di Sano, un istituto maschile. La ragazza riesce a incontrarlo subito e arriva persino a poter dividere con lui la camera nel dormitorio del plesso scolastico; Sano sembra tuttavia un tipo freddo e distaccato, e pare inoltre aver smesso di praticare il salto in alto. Mizuki non intende in ogni caso arrendersi all'evidenza, determinata a vedere a tutti i costi il proprio idolo saltare di nuovo. Nel frattempo, il vivace compagno di classe Shuichi Nakatsu inizia a sentirsi attratto da Mizuki... al punto da vacillare sulle proprie preferenze sessuali!
