Gli eserciti di una potenza tirannica minacciano una tranquilla colonia ai confini della galassia. Qui la misteriosa straniera Kora (Sofia Boutella) diventa l'unica speranza di sopravvivenza e riceve l'incarico di scovare abili combattenti per affrontare con lei il compito impossibile di battersi contro un avversario così potente. Kora raduna una manciata di guerrieri in una piccola banda composta da reietti, ribelli, contadini e orfani di guerra provenienti da numerosi pianeti e accomunati da tanta voglia di redimersi e vendicarsi. Mentre l'ombra oscura di tutto un impero incombe sulla luna che meno se l'aspetta, ha inizio una battaglia per il futuro della galassia e un nuovo esercito di eroi prende forma.
