Nell’epico e perpetuo inseguimento dell’inafferrabile ghianda, Scrat si ritrova catapultato nello spazio profondo dove procede accidentalmente alla disposizione dei pianeti del sistema solare e provoca suo malgrado un’enorme minaccia alla Terra. Un asteroide gigantesco è diretto sul pianeta e niente sembra arrestare la sua corsa. Contro il pericolo cosmico e fatale, Sid, Diego e Manny cercano una soluzione e ritrovano Buck, furetto intrepido ed eccentrico che sa come evitare l’imminente apocalisse. Alle prese con problemi familiari altrettanto esplosivi, i tre storici compagni risolveranno i loro conflitti in terra come in cielo, garantendo ancora una volta una vita serena ai loro cari, a prede e a predatori.

Su un pianeta lontano la razza dei Predator ha creato il suo Colosseo senza pubblico. Raccolgono e ammassano esemplari di altre razze (per quanto ne sappiamo più che altro umani), li gettano nella foresta senza spiegazioni e gli danno la caccia apprendendo da loro tecniche e strategie. Quando sul pianeta arriva un gruppo eterogeneo composto da guerriglieri, soldati e mercenari, tutti a modo loro dei predatori nella loro vita terrestre, la faccenda si complica perchè pur non conoscendosi collaboreranno al fine di evitare di cadere vittime e tornare sul pianeta d'origine.
