Chi è quel tipo dall’aria trascurata che vive da solo nelle stalle ristrutturate di Villa Guelfi? Passa le giornate a non far nulla ed evitando il contatto con tutti. E quando si accorge che nella villa si è stabilita abusivamente una comunità di ragazzi che si dedicano a curare quella campagna e i vigneti abbandonati, si innervosisce e vorrebbe cacciarli. Sono studenti, neolaureati, agronomi, e tra loro c’è Matilde, che è nata in quel posto e da bambina lavorava la vigna con il nonno Conte Guelfo Guelfi. Anche loro sono incuriositi da quel signore misantropo dal passato misterioso: perché sta lì da solo e non vuole avere contatti con nessuno? Mentre avanzano le stagioni, il conflitto con quella comunità di ragazze e ragazzi si trasforma in convivenza, fino a diventare un’alleanza. E Adriano si troverà ad accudire nel suo modo brusco la contessina Matilde, che è incinta di uno di quei ragazzi…
