Nel 2030 una divisione speciale della polizia giapponese, la sezione nove, affronta casi legati alle tecnologie robotiche, mediche e informatiche, che hanno conosciuto uno sviluppo e una convergenza senza precedenti nella prima metà del XXI secolo. Potenziamenti, cervelli ed interi corpi artificiali estendono le capacità fisiche umane e riducono la comunicazione al pensiero, ma sono al contempo usati per azioni spionistiche, terroristiche e dimostrative, in cui i mass media sono usati come un palcoscenico in cui si riducono i crimini a prodotto, e i criminali in eroi. Nello svolgersi dei 26 episodi, si svolge la losca ed intricata vicenda di un abilissimo hacker, il "Laughing Man" alle prese con rapimenti, informazioni segrete riguardanti le cure per la sclerosi del cervello artificiale, squadre armate e politici corrotti. Alcuni episodi non vi fanno proprio riferimento, o ve ne fanno in modo molto superficiale, e si concentrano su storie svincolate o sull'approfondimento delle caratteristiche e della storia dei vari personaggi, soprattutto Motoko, Batou, Togusa e Aramaki.

Before Yamaguchi can arrive with the material, however, the car he is driving swerves off of the road and explodes. Aramaki allows Togusa to investigate Yamaguchi's death and Togusa is able to retrieve the information that his colleague wanted him to look at. It now seems that they have found a possible suspect in Nanao=A, a man with dubious connections. Jon Baker (Shepard) e Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Peña) entrano a far parte della California Highway Patrol (CHP) di Los Angeles, spinti da motivazioni diverse. Baker è un ex motociclista professionista che si è arruolato per rimettere apposto la sua vita e il suo matrimonio. Poncherello è un agente federale sotto copertura piuttosto arrogante, che ha il compito di scoprire se una recente rapina multimilionaria è stata compiuta da agenti della CHP. La recluta inesperta e il temprato professionista fanno squadra, ma si scontrano di continuo: perciò dar vita ad una collaborazione è più facile a dirsi che a farsi. Ma l’abilità da motociclista di Baker e la conoscenza delle strade di Ponch potrebbero funzionare… se non fosse che si complicano la vita a vicenda.

Affetto da deficit di attenzione e da dislessia Percy Jackson non ha vita facile a scuola e la vita privata non sembra andare meglio: vive con la madre non avendo mai conosciuto il padre. Il motivo di questa situazione diventa però chiaro quando, in gita scolastica in un museo, una professoressa si trasforma in mostro alato e minaccia di ucciderlo se non le rivela dove ha nascosto il fulmine di Zeus. Percy, è un semidio, figlio di Poseidone e di una mortale ed è venuto per lui il momento di allenarsi per prendere coscienza dei propri poteri. L'allenamento però dovrà aspettare, qualcuno ha rubato quel fulmine primigenio di Zeus e tutti accusano Percy per scatenare una colossale guerra tra i tre grandi fratelli: Zeus, Poseidone e Ade.

La vita di un semidio a New York non è sempre facile, e quella di Percy Jackson è diventata una vera impresa da quando ha scoperto di essere figlio di Poseidone e deve trascorrere tutte le estati al Campo Mezzosangue, insieme ai suoi simili. Ma ora il campo è in grave pericolo: l'albero magico che lo protegge è stato avvelenato e non riesce più a difenderlo dalle invasioni dei mostri. Solo il Vello d'Oro può salvarlo! Ma è custodito su un'isola da Polifemo, nelle acque tumultuose del Mare dei Mostri. La missione è affidata alla figlia di Ares, ma Percy non può certo restarsene con le mani in mano.
