Divenuto campione di karate dopo lo scontro finale contro il "cattivo" Kreese, il giovane Daniel La Russo, rientrato ad Okinawa, rinuncia ad iscriversi all'università per impiegare la somma a ciò destinata nella realizzazione del sogno del "maestro" Miyagi che lo ha allenato: un laboratorio adatto alla coltivazione dei bonsai.
